Press release
Hamburg/Lachen (Switzerland), 2 May 2022
Starting in June 2022, customers can use the European payment solution Bluecode to pay at the pumps of more than 350 HEM service stations in Germany.
As of June 2022, more than 350 HEM service stations operated by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH will accept Bluecode as a payment option, facilitating quick and convenient payments through the Bluecode app – directly at the pump using Pay@Pump. Additionally, customers will have the option to receive a digital receipt via email after refuelling. “Digital payments are increasingly becoming part of everyday life, including at gas stations. We’re happy that customers can now enjoy an even smoother refuelling experience by paying directly at the pump with Bluecode. Plus, they get access to a whole ecosystem – a one-stop solution,” says Bluecode CEO Anton Stadelmann.
“Deutsche Tamoil, the parent company of the HEM brand, is continuously advancing the digitalization of its service stations. This includes cutting-edge, efficient payment solutions for our customers. In addition, the significance of added value through loyalty programmes or tailored offers is increasingly being recognized as a pivotal strategy for securing long-term customer allegiance to our brand,” says Oliver Behrens, Head of Payment Systems and Mobility Technologies at Deutsche Tamoil GmbH. “Through our partnership with Bluecode, we are set to jointly realize these objectives and make the refuelling experience even more convenient for our customers.”
To use Pay@Pump, the only requirement is the Bluecode app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play. In the “Partners” menu option of the app, users can select their preferred HEM gas station for refuelling – geo-tagging technology ensures that the nearest station automatically appears at the top of the list. Bluecode can be selected as the payment method before, during or after pumping gas. The payment is authorized with just one click.
