European payment systems cooperate and launch “Payment Roaming” in Germany, Austria and Italy
Bluecode and Bancomat, both members of EMPSA (European Mobile Payment Systems Association), are enabling users of their payment systems to pay seamlessly within each other’s acceptance network. This is made possible by a technical, commercial, and legal standard defined by EMPSA, which creates the prerequisites for cross-border interoperability of various payment systems.

Optical payment is on the go at the European Football Championships. Bluecode is all in – thanks to the partnership with official sponsor Alipay+. During the European Championships, fans are able to pay with Bluecode in stadiums and at more than 300 point of sales in the official fan zones.

Bluecode now available at Kaufland: Kaufland Pay Launches Germany-Wide in Cooperation with Bluecode
Starting on September 18, the innovative, secure, and smart mobile payment solution Bluecode is available as Kaufland Pay in more than 770 stores of German retailer Kaufland. Shoppers can use the Kaufland App to pay at the checkout, using only a QR code, while simultaneously enjoying the benefits of the digital Kaufland Card. Kaufland leverages the strengths of the Bluecode payment system, which is directly linked to the user’s bank account.

Mobile payment at the pump: Bluecode is now available at HEM stations throughout Germany
The European payment solution Bluecode can be used to pay at the pumps of more than 350 HEM service stations in Germany
European Payment Technology in Africa: Instant Payment via Bluecode available in Nigeria
Bluecode’s Mobile Payment Platform goes live in Nigeria, in cooperation with three Nigerian banks, comprising around seven million consumers. Other banks have announced their cooperation.

Pre-order and pre-pay with Edeka Südwest
Germany’s largest EDEKA group, EDEKA Südwest, integrates Bluecode as a means of payment into two of its apps, the „Markt-Bäckerei“ and „Frühstücks-App“. The apps let users and employees pre-order and pre-pay for their breakfast and snacks.
The first major Bluecode-capable retail app
German drugstore chain Müller launches its own App, Müller Pay. Thanks to Bluecode, the app can be used as a means of payment in every Müller store in Austria and Germany. Müller is the first major German retailer to integrate Bluecode into its own app.
TSG Hoffenheim adopts Bluecode in their app and stadium
German soccer club TSG Hoffenheim is the latest Bundesliga club to begin accepting Bluecode payments. Fans can now use the TSG app to make cashless payments and benefit from value-added services at the same time.
A partnership with Hypo OÖ
With Hypo Oberösterreich, Bluecode gains another important partner bank for its European payment network. Hypo Oberösterreich clients can directly connect their checking accounts with the Bluecode app and any other Bluecode-capable app.
Bluecode access for more than 15 million Huawei users
Bluecode and Huawei partner up, giving access to the Bluecode network to more than 15 million Huawei users. They can now use Huawei Pay at any Bluecode merchant. Details.
Tickets, merchandise and more with the KSC app
German second-league club Karlsruher SC adopts Bluecode as payment option in their app and stadium checkout systems, following suit after Bundesliga clubs 1. FC Köln and FC Augsburg.
Family Hopp makes million-Euro investment
Daniel and Oliver Hopp‘s Hopp Family Office invests 20 million Euro in the European payment solution Bluecode.
Rossmann accepts Bluecode payments
German drugstore chain Rossmann now accepts Bluecode payments in all of their 2,200 stores in Germany.
jö&GO!: Collecting Ös and payment within a single scan
Bluecode and jö Bonusclub launch jö&GO! The app of Austria’s biggest customer loyalty platform unites the value-added services of the jö-Karte with mobile payment via Bluecode in one app.
New partner banks
Bluecode gains multiple Austrian banks as its partners. More than half of Austrian banks now cooperate, including the Raiffeisen banks, the 3-bank group of BKS, BTV, and Oberbank, all of the Volksbanken, the Ärzte- und Apothekerbank, multiple Hypo banks, the Hello Bank, the Bank Burgenland, the Bankhaus Schelhammer & Schattera, and Bank99.

Bluecode Continues to Drive Mobile Payment
Pay by smartphone in your own community
Gem2GO integrates Bluecode into their community app for Austrian local townships and further develops the digitalization of local commerce in rural areas. Around 2,100 townships are listed in the app.
Contactless payment in times of Covid-19
Driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, Bluecode continues to further develop and offer contactless and cashless payment in grocery stores, drug stores, bakeries, pharmacies, and many more.

Bluecode Gains New Friends
One step closer
Bluecodes teams up with ten leading European payment systems – the European Payment Systems Association (EMPSA) was born. Since its establishment, EMPSA has been working on a European payment vision, the establishment of a payment system for Europeans that is developed in accordance with European standards. The goal: European value-added mobile payment that is accessible across Europe and acts as a counterweight to non-European payment systems. As of 2022, EMPSA consists of fourteen mobile payment providers.
2018
Bluecode Access for more than 700 Million Alipay Users
Tapping Asian purchasing power
Starting in 2018, Alipay users have access to the Bluecode network, thanks to a cooperation between the Asian payment giant and the European upstart. Soon after, an expansion into German is achieved, a development that sends waves throughout Europe’s payment landscape.

Driven by his experiences in Silicon Valley, CEO Christian Pirkner starts to establish a new European payment scheme – the first of its kind. It is based on Bluecode’s predecessor, Secure Payment Technologies.
