Bluecode has developed free plug-ins for online stores operating on the “Magento” and “WooCommerce” e-commerce platforms, enabling the integration of mobile payments with just a few clicks.
Bluecode is expanding its services in the e-commerce sector. In its latest move, the Austrian mobile payment solution has developed plug-ins for webshops running on the “Magento” and “WooCommerce” platforms, which enable the seamless addition of Bluecode as a payment method, making it available to shoppers in just a few minutes. These plug-ins are available to webshop operators at no cost, requiring only an agreement with Bluecode through the respective acquirer. This innovation reduces the time and expense involved in API integration for merchants to a matter of just a few clicks. “We’ve created these modules to enable our partners to provide their customers with a hassle-free, quick, and most importantly, secure payment method in their online stores”, says Bluecode CEO Anton Stadelmann.
Effective and secure mobile payments for online shopping
The key objective is customer convenience. To use Bluecode for purchases in an online store, customers only need their smartphone and a bank account linked to Bluecode. Selecting Bluecode as their payment method and scanning the QR code displayed on the screen with the Bluecode app or any Bluecode-enabled app is all it takes. The payment is then confirmed with a simple swipe on the smartphone. This also works in mobile online stores and apps: to finalize their payment, customers are directed to the Bluecode app or the respective Bluecode-enabled app. Upon confirmation, they are automatically taken back to the online store. An added benefit is the reduction in transaction abandonment rates, as there’s no need for logging in or entering additional information to make a payment. “Our goal is to make the online payment experience as smooth as possible: allowing users to pay online without the hassle of entering extra passwords or information. Only facial recognition or a fingerprint is required. That’s convenience,” says Stadelmann.
Beyond convenience and speed, security is of critical importance. Bluecode employs the principle of “zero-knowledge proofs”, meaning that Bluecode has no access to customer or bank details, which remain with the customer’s primary bank. Additionally, the use of token-based technology ensures that all data is encrypted directly on the user’s smartphone before it is sent to Bluecode’s servers in an encrypted format. This approach removes the need to input credit card information on websites, thereby minimizing security risks and, in turn, keeping transaction costs low.
